Ju Mohar Monastery Restoration
Ju Mohar Monastery

The Rigdzin Foundation seeks to help the monks and nuns of Ju Mohar Monastery to rebuild their monastery and nunnery, foster Buddhist scholarship and meditation, and regain their place at the centre of Junyong community life and culture.

Most monasteries in Tibet were destroyed between 1959 and 1970. As China grants more religious freedom, the Tibetan people are striving to rebuild their monasteries, recover their medical traditions, and revitalize their culture.

Ju Mohar Monastery has an important place in the history of Tibetan Buddhism. Jamgön Mipham Rinpoche, a great philosopher and meditator wrote his 13 great works of the Ancient School (Nyingma) tradition at Ju Mohar Monastery's hermitage. These works are still studied today.
